How to facilitate a project
A facilitator keeps momentum and clarity across multiple contributors. The role is less about doing all tasks and more about keeping the system healthy.
Initiate information gathering
- Clarify scope, constraints, and success metrics.
- Coordinate architecture and design decisions early.
- Capture assumptions in a written RFC or equivalent doc.
Organize the work
- Break projects into small, trackable tasks.
- Sequence phases toward a shippable v0.
- Keep ownership explicit for each task.
Unblock and report
- Run quick pulse checks for blockers and risk.
- Escalate capacity or dependency issues early.
- Maintain async status visibility for all-hands and leadership sync.
Push toward v0
Prioritize fast exposure to real usage. Early shipping behind feature flags produces better feedback than long internal cycles.
