Spend conservatively
Spend less than we make. Every expense should be tied to real value and company stage, especially revenue health.
Spend transparently
Share costs broadly so the team can challenge decisions and improve financial discipline.
Spend autonomously
Keep approvals lightweight for small transactions. Larger and recurring expenses should be team-discussed; leaders break ties when needed.
Questions about expenses can be raised in #all-expenses.
Existing budgets (Brex limits)
- Remote office: $2,000 lifetime for setup and productivity hardware.
- Productivity software: $500 per year, no questions asked.
- Miscellaneous: open limit for approved special spend (events, team moments).
- Benefits: individual limits by benefit category.
- Travel: event-specific limits created per offsite/conference.
Hiring approval
Payroll is one of the largest expenses. Every role salary budget must be approved by the executive team before posting a job description.
Reimbursements
Brex card usage is preferred. If unavailable, keep the receipt and submit reimbursement in Brex.
If receipt is missing, upload a bank statement transaction screenshot. The Brex app can be used for transactions, card details, and travel booking.
