What is the travel policy
Flight booking
- No required airline or booking method preference.
- Reduce layovers and connections when possible.
- Aim to keep price within 1.5x of the cheapest option.
Add-ons
Approved
- Checked bags, in-flight Wi-Fi and meals.
- Parking and airport transportation.
- Seat upgrades when meaningful, usually for flights over 3 hours, and preferably under 10% of total ticket cost.
Unapproved
- First or business class.
- In-flight alcohol.
- Travel insurance.
- Rental cars unless public/shared transport is not feasible.
Meals
- Stay nourished: food, snacks, liquids are expected.
- One alcoholic drink per day.
- Be reasonable by location; generally target around $100 USD/day.
Travel perk
For conferences or offsites lasting 3+ days, use one perk per event:
- 60-minute massage/stretching session, or
- Activity with loved ones (<$200 USD).
