Why we have a "meeting-free day"
Wednesdays are meeting-free across the company to protect focus and deep work.
Why we do this
Async remains the default, but synchronous collaboration is still needed. Without guardrails, constant meetings create strain and fragmentation.
With a globally distributed team, one meeting-free day reduces pressure from early/late calls and improves personal sustainability.
Implementation
- Block Wednesday calendar as busy.
- If a call is requested, ask to reschedule.
- When possible, ask for a recording instead.
Extended meeting-free periods
During incidents, launches, or focused project pushes, teams may declare longer meeting-free periods for a specific group.
Communicate scope and duration in Slack and update calendars accordingly.
